Bradford Cathedral 17-18 February 2018
A new venue for us and we enjoyed it. We stayed at the Midland Hotel where we were well looked after and although there was building work in progress it was not a problem. Canticles sung were Darke in A minor and Blair in B Minor. We sang Kyrie Orbis Factor (Sarum Kyrie IX) with the Tallis Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei for Eucharist and the three anthems were Turn Back O Man by Holst, Call to Remembrance by Farrant and Hear my Prayer by Mendlessohn. A good weekend.
Lincoln Cathedral 28-29 October 2018
Another great weekend especially as we stayed at the Lincoln Hotel, just over the road from the Cathedral. Some hardy souls even braved Steep Hill!
Canticles sung were Sumsion in A with Magnificat octavi toni by Orlando di Lasso. Lincoln is one of the few cathedral who still celebrate Mattins on a Sunday and we sang Howell's Collegium Regal Te Deum and Jubilate deo. For Eucharist we sang Stanford. The Anthems for the weekend were Rejoice in the Lord Always, Anon; Greater Love by Ireland and Remember now thy Creator by Stegall.
15/16 February 2014 - Worcester Cathedral
An extremely successful weekend despite worries as to whether we would get there because of the flooding all around Worcester. However the Cathedral and the Hotel were all dry and warm and we all enjoyed the hospitality of the staff again.
We sang the Michael Wise Service for the Saturday Evensong together with another Philip Moore piece - All Wisdom Cometh from the Lord. For Eucharist on Sunday morning we used the Haydn Nelson Mass which was glorious to sing in that lovely building. The Anthem was Beati Quorum by Stanford. For Sunday Evensong we sang the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Wood and our Anthem was Cantate Domino by Shutz.
Some singers were unable to be with us due to problems caused by the extreme weather.
16/17 February 2013 - Exeter Cathedral
Another visit to Exeter after a long break. Lovely to be back there and sang the Philip Moore Third Service for Evensong on Saturday and Byrd Service for 5 voices at Eucharist on Sunday morning. We finished off the weekend with a favourite at Evenson - Noble in B Minor Magnificat and Nunch Dimittis.
9/10 April 2011- Ripon Cathedral
Another visit to Ripon and we received a warm welcome. Sadly in the week before the tour we received the news that Gordon, one of our Tenors, had died very suddenly. However we were lucky to receive singing assistance from local choristers and we dedicated our services to Gordon's memory. We hope to go back to Ripon again.
