Chairman's Report 2016

Chairman’s Report for Vopag, 2016

In 2013 many of you will remember that we adopted the policy of linking access to our outings to attendance at our Monthly Meetings. This continues to drive increased attendance at our Tuesday meetings at the Community Centre.

Our decision last year to go for a fixed calendar, namely 3rd. Tuesday in the month except August, has not cost us attendance which is reassuring for the Committee.
Financially, you will see we are operating a small surplus.

This is thanks to:
A carryover sum from VAG Group accounts
2 Grants from both CDC and our own Parish ( VAG.)
Our own efforts in raising cash from Coffee/ Raffle.

Last year the Chair took a sabbatical to move home. Tony Offord stepped in to cover and Tony I have agreed to share this role for the foreseeable future; this means taking responsibility for alternating meetings. That is why I am taking this one.
We have had an outstanding range of Speakers from all walks of life that we are familiar with. We also enjoy a unique and much valued relationship with our wonderful Academy School which enriches our lives with the their annual Christmas show. Our outing to Bletchley Park was well received by all. We may well repeat it if demand is there.

Our overriding ambitions are to improve liaison with the local CCCG, monitor the Local Plan process as it progresses, with particular emphasis on any impact on facilities for the elderly.

Transport is our other overriding concern. In that context we want to carry out an initial  feasibility study for a local bus for the Village using the experience of Stokenchurch ( a sister OPAG and fellow member of the Bucks OPAG Group BOPAG.) as a model.

Madge Holah has continued to run the monthly lunches at the Village Hall pub. These are well attended and popular. They represent  outstanding value for money
Kenneth Arton died very recently. Kenneth contributed to VOPAG over the years was recently awarded a Chiltern District Community Award. Well earned indeed. He will be much missed for his wise advice.

We do this as volunteers. We are non political and non commercial BUT WE DO RELY ON YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT AND FEEDBACK.
Please use our unique website to keep in touch with us.
Tony and I both thank Stella, Sue and Madge for their unfailing support

Mike McDonald & Tony Offord.
