Technical Group visit London Bridge Station rebuilding works Aug 2017

The Technical Group organises outings and talks which should appeal to those U3A members who are interested in how, or why, things work. Group members are encouraged to suggest suitable events to include in the programme and to take turns in organising them.  It is envisaged that one event will take place each month.
We do hope you can join us.

Monday 26 March 2018 - Talk on Delivery of the new Mini

I have arranged a talk for the Technical Group to be given by Howard Pearce on the process to deliver the new BMW Mini.  Howard tells me that it is not in-depth technical presentation but I am sure it will be of great interest to members of our group.

The talk will be held at our usual meeting place: Haddenham Youth & Community Centre, Woodways, Haddenham, HP17 8DS on Monday 26th March starting at 2.30.  Tea and coffee will be available beforehand and there will be a collection of £1 per head to cover expenses.

The meeting is open to all members of Haddenham U3A so please spread the word.

As usual, I would appreciate help in putting out chairs and serving refreshments.

I look forward to seeing you on the day.

Wednesday 25 July 2018 - Visit to Amazon Fulfilment Centre, Hemel Hempstead

Ian Brearley has kindly arranged to lead a group visit to the Amazon Fulfilment Centre at Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 25thJuly at 11.30. He has reserved a tour for a maximum of 30 people.  We will travel by car, starting from Haddenham Village Hall at around 10.00am.  Ian is researching a suitable venue for lunch.

If you are interested in attending, please let me know and also advise me whether you are willing to drive and whether you would like lunch.  If we don’t fill the allocation by end of May I will be offering the visit to the whole of Haddenham U3A

Proposed visit to Triumph Motorcycle Factory

If enough people are interested, I will make a group booking for the next available Wednesday in October which is the earliest month for which bookings are available. Maximum group size is 15
The factory is at Hinckley, Leicestershire (LE10 3BZ) and, depending on your chosen route, the journey should take between 1.5 and 2 hours (66 and 80 miles respectively). I suggest car sharing. I would aim to arrange the start of the visit for about 11:00.
Cost is £15.00 per head which would need to be paid 6 weeks in advance of the visit (no refunds). The factory guided tour takes about 1.5 hours and they suggest that we leave another 2 hours for the “factory visit experience” (aka museum) which is free. There are catering facilities on site.
For now, please let me know if you would like to sign up for this visit – in the next week please.
Best regards
