Earth Matters Group

A number of U3A members from both Haddenham and Greater Thame expressed an interest in setting up a group which we have named ‘Earth Matters’ as in ‘matters’ relating to the earth but also recognising the ecological aspects in that the earth does ‘matter’. So this is a joint group between the two U3As

Are you interested in studying your local environment? Would you like to know more about Botany, Geology, Archaeology, Palaeontology and Ecology. The emphasis will be on learning more about our local area. We arrange field trips with expert guides at two-monthly intervals between March and November and have an indoor meeting in the winter. The usual day is the second Wednesday of the month.

If you are interested in joining the group please contact Sue Oswell 01844 290568 sue.oswell@btopenworld.com. We would also be delighted to hear from you if you have an interest or area of expertise which could contribute to the group’s learning, or if you have any further ideas for possible trips.

We do hope you can join us.

Wednesday 14 November 2018 - talk on River Thame Conservation

On Wednesday 14th November we are having a talk on the (River) Thame Conservation Trust. This meeting will be held in the Haddenham Methodist Church and will start at 2.30pm.

This is an email to let you know that Natalie Bredon no longer works for the River Thame Conservation Trust so her replacement, Hannah Worker, will be telling us about their work instead. Hannah says that she will tell us 'how the trust is working towards a catchment with healthy fresh water and wildlife, valued and enjoyed by local people and resilient for the future.'

There will be a small charge to cover the cost hiring the church and a contribution to the trust

If you are intending to come could you please let me know so that we can organise the refreshments. If a couple of people could help with the latter it would be very much appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing you there

Sue
