Earth Matters Group

This gr oup has been running jontly with Thame U3A since Summer 2012.

Are you interested in studying your local environment? Would you like to know more about Botany, Geology, Archaeology, Palaeontology and Ecology. The emphasis will be on learning more about our local area. We arrange field trips with expert guides at two-monthly intervals between March and September and have indoor meetings in November and January. The usual day is the second Wednesday of the month.

If you are interested in joining the group please contact Sue Oswell 01844 290568 sue.oswell@btopenworld.com. We would also be delighted to hear from you if you have an interest or area of expertise which could contribute to the group’s learning, or if you have any further ideas for possible trips.

We do hope you can join us.

Wednesday 9 January 2019 - Talk on Food Crops from field to supermarket

The meeting on Wednesday 9th January 2019 will be held at the Youth and Community Centre, Woodways, Haddenham at 2.30pm.  Please note that this is a new venue for the group. It is where Haddenham U3A usually meet and is opposite the tennis courts and within the playground of Haddenham Community Junior School. There are 280 bus stops outside the school and there are usually parking spaces in the carpark next to the tennis courts.
Dr Mary Miller will be explaining to us the processes by which food crops get from field to supermarket and the pros and cons of packaging.
