Visiting Country Churches Group

This group was previously known as The Antiques and Collectables Group. But in June 2014, it was decided to change its remit a little, and we were invited to merge with the Visiting Country Churches Group with Greater Thame U3A who lead the group.  Therefore, as the new name implies we will be focusing on getting out and about to discover the gems of churches both local and further afield.

Group Notice

August, September and October visits

All will be welcome on the 23rd August visit to St Bartholomews Church Brightwell Baldwin. Arrive at the church for 2:15pm. Cost is £3 per head. Tea and Cake will be available on the way back to Thame at the Pine Lodge Shop and Tea Room at Little Milton. Please contact Elizabeth Thomas on 01865890086 or Heather Peers on 01844 278200 to book or for information .

On September 20th. Elizabeth Bridges is arranging visit to Towersey Church, aiming to arrive at 2.15. After a talk and guided tour of the church, members of the church have offered to give us tea or coffee, and cakes. The cost will be £3 each for a donation to the church, and £3 per person for the refreshments.

Please let Elizabeth know if you would like to attend.

On October 18th. Elizabeth Bridges is hoping to organise a visit to either St. Albans or Hereford, if there are enough members interested. This is only open to Visiting Churches members and their partners as this outing is being subsidised out of our funds. Please let Elizabeth know as soon as possible which venue you prefer and we will go to the one most popular.

If there aren't enough to fill a coach we can either hire a minibus or, if members are prepared to drive that distance, we can go by car. I will work out a fair recompense for the drivers. Whichever you choose I will book a guided tour round that Cathedral, then members can either join that tour or be free to spend the day how they like. The choice is yours.  It's important for you to choose soon so I can book the necessary transport.

An appeal from Elizabeth

Please could you let each month’s organiser know whether you are a car driver and have space for a passenger or need a lift. This seems to have been forgotten recently and there was one member who could not go last month because she did not have a lift.

Thank you. Elizabeth Bridges – 216646

Please note that this is a joint group led by Greater Thame U3A. Most contact points and meeting points relate to GTU3A. Jane Brown can provide liaison for Haddenham if necessary.
No meetings in December, January or February
