We are a flat green bowls club - with a first class green and an excellent clubhouse.
Our club was founded on the 6th May 1936. It is amongst the best greens in the County with a playing membership numbering 66.and Social membership is currently 26, giving us an overall membership of 92 at the end of the 2018 season. The Club is situated in a convenient spot close to the centre of the town yet retains an air of quiet seclusion which is a delight to be experienced on a warm summer evening.
We have a well-established fixtures card. Our aim is to provide a balanced mix of matches designed to present opportunities for bowlers of all abilities. We have an extensive programme of internal club competitions culminating in Finals Weekend, which takes place in mid September.
As well as the seasoned bowler, we welcome into the Club those new to the game, taking good care that they are looked after by providing a full induction package. In addition to free training from qualified instructors we are prepared to offer the services of a mentor to steer you through the early days and it will not cost you a fortune - as the membership subscription for your first season of outdoor bowling will be generously discounted. We also provide concessionary rates to juniors and persons in full time education.
If you fancy a go call in on a Friday evening, April - September. See if you like it. Find us off New Road, at the end of the private road immediately opposite 'Risborough Coachworks. Or enquire on 07958984363.
During the winter months, the clubhouse is put to good use by the staging of social events including monthly bingo sessions, quiz nights and organised trips to West End theatres. We can usually look forward to some form of Christmas celebration.
Being a member owned club, we rely heavily on members giving some of their time towards providing the considerable resource needed to fulfil all of the management functions, catering, maintaining the green and it's surrounds and to keep the clubhouse clean. We believe that membership brings with it an obligation on each to contribute towards the continued well-being of the club by the giving of their services in whichever way thought most appropriate. The Club is firmly of the view that this is a reasonable expectation and its management committee endeavours to ensure that as far as possible, every person who is fit and has the ability does fulfil that obligation by either volunteering for at least one active role or by accepting an allocated task.
