The Marlow Bucks Cup Winners 2016.

If there were nothing better to do than play bowls all day long would you want for anything more than that ? A question that indeed Sir Francis Drake pondered over before one of his bigger battles !

However such questions take on slightly less significance in these modern times, but the game of bowls itself plays an equally big part in the infrastructure of the local community and that is certainly the case in Marlow. So we welcome you to the Marlow Bowls Club website and hope that in time you will visit our quaint little ground as pictured above with the church steeple in the background and become enthralled by the lure of the game.

There will be match reports in the Maidenhead Advertiser and Bucks Free Press (MarlowFP) this season, which we thank them for, so look out for them and of course we hope to achieve some good results to report on.

The Open Day events were extremely successful and in fact our club coaches were overwhelmed by the response particularly on Sunday and it looks like we will have increased our membership significantly which is brilliant news. We were graced with reasonable weather but thanks must go chiefly to the exposure offered us by the Marlovian and Round & About magazines, Marlow FM and of course the locals, and shopowners who displayed our posters and last but not least the various club members who distributed leaflets around the area.  A very special thanks goes to the club members and coaches who helped on the two days dealing with the influx of visitors, it can be an arduous task but it is invaluable to the club and their efforts are hugely appreciated.

Marlow is famous for its outdoor bowling season which commences mid-April through the summer until mid-September, and the idyllic setting is a treat for long established and new bowlers alike. Once the summer has passed then the extremely popular short-mat bowling season begins, as the superbly equipped clubhouse becomes haven for a winter session of indoor bowling.

Marlow Bowls Club is a marvellous venue at which both men and women can participate at all levels of bowling ability and does encompass all age groups, so if you want to get involved with the bowls club phone or email us and we will return your interest. See contact details at the bottom of this page.

  • The Club Fixtures page gives you a layout of all the club fixtures throughout the season and when possible a breakdown of the teams selected and directions etc.
  • The News and Views page gives you notice of various announcements and snippets of news relating to the club, and is probably the best page to look at on a regular basis, particularly pre-season.
  • The Discussions page is currently undergoing changes.
  • The Photo Album is available for all bowls related pictures and club members are invited to submit any snaps for inclusion. Preferably by email to paulrsimmons@sky.com.
  • The Useful Links page provides websites that should be of interest to most of you. Although we cannot vouch for the weather on the weather site too accurately ?
  • The  Forms and Documents page contains several items including the Membership Application form, Short Mat Newsletter, and Club Competition form, plus others.
  • The Match Reports page will feature reports on various games and matches that take place be it outdoor, indoor or short mat matches.
  • Social Events page will carry future events so keep an eye on things here if you cannot get down the club to view the board.
  • The Short Mat bowls page will give you information on what's happening in the clubhouse short-mat sessions that take place during the winter months.
We do hope you enjoy our website and that it provides a good source of information for all current bowling members and for outsiders alike and it may prove the impetus for you to come along and try your hand at this absorbing game in a very pleasant and relaxing environment.
