Summary race report and results

Another successful series has passed by and I thank you all for giving the time to support them – and missing out on Wimbledon and Euro 2016.

Langley Park is probably the best of the Bucks Country Parks having retained a much softer feel than Black Park. It was nice for me to spend the day out there in pleasant sunshine. On the 2 previous races I found myself having to shelter from heavy rain.

Getting back to running. The ground was dry and fast. The weather slightly humid - which accounted for most of the water being taken.

The winner of race 3 was Martin Murray in a time of 18:20 The first lady to cross the line was Carol Jones of Ealing, Southall and Middlesex AC in a time of 22:45 Well done to both.

Congratulations to all the category winners picking out in particular Martin Little, 1^st male, who has been one of the most regular runners and to Carol Jones, 1^st woman, who has done every run since we started the series back in 2010.

In both cases they were running up in age category. Martin is M50 and Carol who improves on that for she is running up from W55.

Now some acknowledgements.

Quite a lot of people volunteer their time to service the Langley Park Races so here is an overview.

All the post event registrations, number allocation and subsequent results were done by Barbara Allen. Barbara is a member of Datchet Dashers Running club.

The team supporting Barbara on registration were all from the core band of helpers at Black Park parkrun. So my thanks to all.

Please remember this! In these days of chip timing we take for granted results being readily available. The results for our races are done in the old fashioned, cost effective, manner of manual input of all details. A special round of applause please for the number crunchers.

The on-course marshals were provided by Rhys Jones and friends from the “Friends of Langley Park” group. They are self-motivated to support activities in Langley Park. It would be hard to find a team more knowledgeable of the parks geography. It takes a weight off my shoulders.

San Remo café usually close at 5pm throughout the summer. For our visit they agree to stay open until 8pm. Regrettably the new extension wasn’t finished for us to try out the facility. As a bonus the on-duty staff is quite often still serving beyond that time if there is a demand. Thank you for supporting them.
