Our Fortieth Year

The Haddenham Mummers perform the traditional village mummers play as published in 1942 by Walter Rose in his book 'Good Neighbours'.

The play was revived in 1976 and every year since then it has been performed in pubs on the days leading up to Christmas. We have two regular tours every season. The first focuses on pubs in the villages around Haddenham while the second, on the Friday before Christmas Eve, takes the performance through all the village pubs & ex-pubs. It's a tough job but someone has to do it! You can see a YouTube video of the play here.

This year we collected a record £3085 taking our total we've collected since we revived the play to  £25,000, a figure we're immensely proud of.  As usual, this season's collection will be distributed between local good causes: Haddenham Community Library, the Haddenham Thursday Club, theMPS Society, Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway and Snakemoor Nature Reserve.

Our schedule this year was our most ambitious yet. We started with a spot at the regular Haddenham Ceilidh on 3rd December 2016, then the Haddenham Churches Carol Concert on 9th. Haddenham Winterfest on 10th followed by our 'Out Of Village' Tour on Friday 16th.  The following week, Friday 23rd, was our 'In Village' Tour. We also performed 3 days on the train at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway 'Santa Specials'. See the Appearances section (top left) for more tour details.
