Film Group

The Haddenham U3A Film Group provides an opportunity to see films, locally and at low cost, that

  • you may have missed the first time round but always wanted to see, or
  • you always wanted to see again, but never seem to come on TV, or
  • include your favourite film star, or
  • were made by your favourite director, or
  • you’ve heard about and you always wondered how good they were, or
  • are in a style or about a subject that you really like
  • you are just intrigued to see.

The screenings are on the first Monday of each month at 14.00hrs (except on weeks where the Monday is a Bank Holiday, when the screening is on Thursday).

The venue is

Mamma Mia
4 December 2017

The King's Speech
4 January 2018

The programme of films is put together every six months by a sub-group of members. All group members are invited to make suggestions of films they would like to be considered. Our aim is to cover a range of different types and styles of film, taking account of members general areas of preference. We hope that group members will be open to attending all or most of the showings, including films that they would not normally consider.

There is a clear educational dimension to the Film Group. Each film showing will be preceded by a short introduction from one of the group members. We will also provide an opportunity after each showing for members to discuss the film.

As each programme of films is announced, if any members own a DVD copy of one of the films to be shown, we would appreciate borrowing it, so that we can keep down the costs of renting or purchasing copies.

A voluntary donation of £15 per annum or £2 per film is requested to cover the cost of the room and incidental expenses.
