Visiting Country Churches Group
This group was previously known as The Antiques and Collectables Group. But in June 2014, it was decided to change its remit a little, and we were invited to merge with the Visiting Country Churches Group with Greater Thame U3A who lead the group. Therefore, as the new name implies we will be focusing on getting out and about to discover the gems of churches both local and further afield.
Entrance charges, lunch etc on outings are paid by individuals as necessary.
|Visit to Holy Cross and St Mary Church, Quainton||19 Oct 2017||Starts 14.30 hrs||Own travel arrangements or car share|
Thursday 19th October. Visit to Holy Cross and St. Mary Church, Quainton (6miles NW of Aylesbury).
There will be a guided tour of the church at 2.30p.m. This is notable for the finest 17th and 18th century monuments, a number of which have recently been restored. The most famous monument is of the Dormer family (we saw another monument to the Dormer family at St. Mary’s Church, Great Milton).
The cost will be £3 donation to the church and £3.50 for refreshments at The George and Dragon just up the road from the church.
Please let Deborah Miller know by 10th if you plan to go (261723); could you also let her know if you are a car driver with space for a passenger or if you need a lift.
An appeal from Elizabeth
Please could you let each month’s organiser know whether you are a car driver and have space for a passenger or need a lift. This seems to have been forgotten recently and there was one member who could not go last month because she did not have a lift.
Thank you. Elizabeth Bridges – 216646
Please note that this is a joint group led by Greater Thame U3A. Most contact points and meeting points relate to GTU3A. Jane Brown can provide liaison for Haddenham if necessary.
No meetings in December, January or February
