Adding an Event

If you have an event that you want to put on the website, use the Events page to show when it takes place.


To enable the Events page

  • Log in to your website
  • From home page select ‘Manage your Website’ tab
  • Click on ‘Services and Permissions’
  • A list of services will appear. Events - click the ‘On/off’ button under the ‘Toggle’ heading
  • Click ‘Enable’
  • Under the ‘State’ heading it should now say ‘On’


Adding an Event

  • Select Events from the navigation menu
  • Click ‘Add an event’
  • Add a title of the event
  • Add a day and month using the drop down boxes, and a year by typing it in
  • Use the radio buttons to say if it is an all day event, or to manually select the times from the drop down boxes below.  To manually select the times you must click on the ‘Use Hours Below’ radio button
  • Add a description about the event
  • If the event lasts more than one day you can click the ‘yes’ radio button when it asks you to repeat, if it is a one day event click ‘no’
  • Add a contact name, email address and telephone number.  This is not a compulsory requirement, and add as little or as much information here as you wish
  • Add a location for the event, add as little or as much information here as you wish, once again, it is not a compulsory requirement
  • If you have a map of the location you can enter the URL. If you do not have a map but have entered a postcode the system will generate a link to Multimap, where a map to the event will be present
  • Add the cost, if any
  • Click ‘OK’


Editing events

  • To edit an event, from the events page click on the title of your event shown in the lower right hand corner of the page
  • This will take you onto details of your event, click on ‘edit’, shown in the lower right hand corner
  • This will take you back to the original page where you added the event.  Make any changes and click ‘Ok’


Deleting events

  • To delete an event, from the events page click on the title of your event shown in the lower right hand corner of the page
  • This will take you onto details of your event, click on ‘delete’, shown in the lower right hand corner
  • It will ask you whether you are sure you want to delete the event.  Click ‘yes, delete it’
  • You will then be taken back to the events page


Adding events to Microsoft Outlook 

  • From the events page click on the title of your event shown in the lower right hand corner of the page
  • This will take you onto details of your event, under the details it gives you the option to ‘add this item to Outlook on your computer’
  • Click on this and a calendar appointment from Outlook will appear
  • Add the details and click ‘Save and Close’
  • The event will now appear in your Outlook calendar

N.B  You can only do this if you have Microsoft Outlook


Showing an upcoming event on your Homepage

You have the option to show any upcoming events on your homepage

  • To do this, from the homepage click ‘Manage your Website’
  • Click ‘Manage Page Elements’
  • To turn it on, click ‘On/off’ button under ‘Toggle’ heading
  • Events - under ‘State’ heading, it will say ‘On’
  • If you do not wish to have upcoming events shown on your homepage simply click the ‘on/off’ until it shows as ‘Off’ under the ‘State’ heading
