RISBOROUGH AREA COMMUNITY BUS PROJECT
Providing local transport for the local community.
The Risborough Area Community Bus was formed by and operates under the umbrella of Risborough Area Community Action (RACA), as a Company Limited by Guarantee and a Registered Charity run by a team of volunteers. The Object of the company is “to provide, operate and maintain transport facilities for people in the Risboroughs and adjacent parishes, including Bledlow cum Saunderton, Ellesborough, Great and Little Hampden, Great and Little Kimble cum Marsh, Lacey Green and Longwick cum Ilmer who have special need of such facilities because they are elderly, poor or disabled, have young children or live in isolated areas where there are no adequate transport facilities”.
Risborough Area Community Bus is run by a Board of unpaid Trustees and an unpaid Management committee.
The Bluebird Tucana minibus can accommodate up to 14 passenger seats or up to five wheelchairs plus 2 seats. It has a full-length flat floor, shallow ramps for wheelchair users and a wide single-step entry to make it easier for passengers with limited mobility.
All drivers are unpaid volunteers and have been trained under the Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme (MiDAS). If you are interesting in volunteering click here for more information.
The bus project has had major support from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural affairs (DEFRA), Bucks County and Wycombe District Councils as well as private sources.
