Kop Hill Climb 2010
The Kop Hill Climb centenary 1910 -2010 took place over the weekend of 25/26 September at Princes Risborough. This commemorative event was a great success building on last year's revival with over 350 veteran, vintage and classic motorcars and motorbikes taking part with hill runs on the closed public road and another 200 classic and club cars on show in the paddock. A unique experience !
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere was appreciated by participants and spectators alike with the Upper School playing fields being transformed into a motorsports arena for the weekend. Over 8000 attended the centenary with takings over two days of £46,000.
The highlight was the ex-Raymond Mays Bugatti Brescia 1923 Cordon Bleu. This car caused the accident on Kop Hill in 1925 that led to RAC banning road racing on UK mainland to this day and the same car now restored in Bugatti blue returned in 2010 to open the centenary event. Dick Skipworth's famous collection of 1950's racing Jaguars brought in their iconic Ecurie Ecosse trailer were also a feature roaring up the Chiltern Hills in convoy.
A cavalcade of motoring history came to Kop for a nostalgic weekend bringing back memories of the hey day of this famous hill climb venue.
