Wycombe Homeless Connection

Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) has been selected as the charity for 2012.

WHC, formally known as Wycombe Winter Night Shelter, has been running since early 2008.  It was set up by individuals from local churches in the town, who were spurred on by the death of a local homeless person sleeping rough - her name was Josie Razzell, and she died in the stairwell of Easton Street car park early on Christmas Day 2006.

WHC seeks to alleviate homelessness in Wycombe and the surrounding district, by working with individuals (referred to as guests) addressing not only their immediate need for shelter, but also their health, work, education and training, friendship and spiritual care; and thus enabling them to rebuild their lives.  You can see more details about WHC on their website http://www.wyhoc.org.uk

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Phil Duffy, says “WHC clearly meets a very real need for people who, for various reasons, find themselves in unfortunate circumstances.  It is a small charity, so the amount we hope to raise at our event will make a big difference to the charity and what they can achieve.  And with volunteers from St Margaret's Church and Holy Trinity Penn there is a strong local connection.  I look forward to the support of our community in delivering a very successful event in June.”

We hope that, if you run the Penn Seven or Super Fun Run this year, you will raise sponsorship to support WHC.  Click here for some tips on raising sponsorship and to download a sponsorship form.
