We are now up and running and needless to say the weather has played a significant part so far, our first match at home to Princes Risborough, some say, should not have been played. Certainly prior to the start the conditions did not look great with loads of rain beforehand. But as soon as we started playing the clouds broke and apart from one brief shower play continued without a hitch and vindicated John Henniker's decision to play the match.
Our home match against Oxford last Saturday was called off by Oxford which was a big disappointment for our players, but the match at Burnham the following day went ahead and we came away with a tidy victory, and President Tim Hyde getting top rink.
The weather is clearly not helping bowls right now so please be careful when you are on the green, remember to take special care as the conditions remain soft and delicate underfoot, for both your own safety and the state of the green.
As you will know the Open Days for new bowlers takes place on Friday May 11th in the evening and Sunday May 13th in the morning, we hope to get plenty of newcomers down for those two dates.
The Friday session starts at 6pm and Sunday 10am.
The newcomers to Marlow exceeded 35 in 2011, a brilliant record-breaking effort and testament to what Marlow is all about and perhaps an indication that outdoor bowls and short mat bowls at Marlow has plenty to offer !
Well done to the Short Mat finalists last weekend, details can be found on the Noticeboard page.
There are several pages available for your perusal and mostly pertaining to bowls of course.
-
The Club Fixtures page gives you a layout of all the club fixtures throughout the 2012 season when they are finalised and when possible a breakdown of the teams selected and directions etc.
-
The Noticeboard gives you notice of various announcements and forthcoming events, with a facility to add your own comment to each event, and is probably the best page to look at on a regular basis, particularly pre-season.
-
The Discussions page is purely for issues to be dissected by club members, with some diplomacy of course.
-
The Photo Album is available for all bowls related pictures and club members are invited to submit any snaps for inclusion. Preferably by email.
-
The Useful Links page provides websites that should be of interest to most of you. Although we cannot vouch for the weather on the weather site too accurately ?
-
The Forms and Documents page contains several items including Membership Application form, Short Mat Newsletter, and Club Competition form, plus others.
-
FAQs this is a small page where some light hearted snippets in Q&A form can be submitted.
-
Classified Ads page means we can carry adverts from people or businesses and this is currently a free service.
