Seeleys House in Beaconsfield has been providing both Day Opportunities and Respite Care Services for over 30 years. It caters for the needs of adults who have severe learning difficulties and/or have physical disabilities. FOSH is a fund-raising support group for both the Day Centre and the Respite Unit at Seeleys. Members of FOSH include parents and guardians of clients, staff at Seeleys, and also members of the general public.
Bucks County Council is undertaking a major programme of Day Service transformation focused on six Day Opportunity Centres. Seeleys has been one of the six. In October 2013 a Local Authority Trading Company, Buckinghamshire Care www.buckinghamshirecare.co.uk which is 100% owned by BCC, took over the running of Seeleys House.
During the past few years Seeleys Day Centre has played host to clients from Chesham and Burnham while their centres were being rebuilt or refurbished. Now that those centres are open, along with Aylesbury Opportunity Centre, we need to bring the facilities at Seeleys up to the standard of those new centres. Unfortunately this implies a significant investment which BCC does not have the funds for. BCC has therefore entered in consultation over proposals to build a new centre in Cressex - see the latest posts on the Noticeboard/The Future of Seeleys.
The Respite Unit has 12 individual rooms which are used by some 80 families while the Day Centre has up to 40 clients. The Seeleys House phone numbers are Day Centre 01494 475357 and Respite Unit 01494 475340. FOSH can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
